iOS 14: What's New?

In June 2020, Apple introduced the latest version of the iOS operating system, iOS 14. The consumers will receive the update this fall. This update has some of the major changes like a home screen design change, updates on the existing apps, some major new features, Siri improvements, and some other changes that make iOS a streamlined interface. The meme game has also been strong all this while because Apple seems to have taken a lot of features from Android. Some of these features were released in the Android a couple of years ago.

iOS 14 Home Screen Widgets

The iOS finally has widgets with a refreshed layout of the home screen doing away with the boring tile icon like appearance. These widgets are available in different sizes and are now much more attractive than the previous versions of iOS. The company calls them data-rich widgets which is evident in the way they have been designed

iOS 14 App library and interface

This feature comes at the end of the home screen scroll within the iOS 14. This feature automatically files different apps where all your apps from one category would appear in one folder

iOS 14 picture-in-picture

This includes better picture-in-picture functionality which allows you to keep watching the videos while using the other apps. This will allow you to answer a text even while you’re watching a movie, without stopping it.

iOS 14 App clips

This feature lets you use the app without ever needing to download the app. Apple calls these ‘light and fast’. You can access these via a card that pops up at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to use specific features of certain apps without ever needing to actually download those apps from the app store

iOS 14 Siri

This has been redesigned to take up just a portion of space on the screen, like a regular notification instead of taking up the entire screen when you the voice assistant
