If you are on the lookout for a good quality Android
phone with a camera that is the star feature of the phone, it is impossible you
have not come across the Huawei series during your research. With the launch of
the P30 pro, Huawei has managed to create a lot of buzz regarding the camera,
so we were very excited to see whether it was worth the hype. On the face of
it, it seems Huawei has managed to keep its reputation for making some of the
finest phones around. The camera is indeed the star of the phone with its
multiple lenses and versatility. The battery life is also quite praiseworthy. Now
let us take a deeper look into the specs and how the phone delivered.
Key Specifications:
- 6.4-inch
OLED display
- 3 rear
cameras, engineered by Leica
- Kirin 980
- 4200 mAh
battery
- 40w fast
charging
With
all the hype surrounding the camera,
we were naturally excited to test it out the first thing. And it did not
disappoint. There are three main rear cameras powered by an all-new Super
Sensing 40-megapixel sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and 26mm focal length, which
will give you extremely detailed shots every single time. The low-light
performance of the camera is great. These features coupled with a 5x zoom makes
sure every click is as impressive as the other. Coming to the part most of you
have been eagerly waiting for, this phone has a solid selfie camera that
delivers nothing less than perfection with every single shot. This 32 MP camera
is in the tiny dewdrop notch around the front of the phone. We tested the
selfie camera in low light mode, and it passed with flying colours, as well.
However, the beauty mode does seem a little harsh and unrealistic for people
who love soft, natural images. The video quality of this phone is a huge
improvement over its predecessor P20 Pro and is generally smooth and stable.
The buzz regarding the camera was not a marketing hype, after all.
Moving
on to other specs, Huawei’s version of the in-screen fingerprint scanners that
is, the optical
fingerprint scanner is again very impressive. It’s
faster, more accurate and more responsive to muscle memory. Huawei has made a
smart move focusing on this scanner, as these are the rage at the moment. And
that makes sense. In-screen fingerprint scanners make a huge difference as they
free-up space on the device while keeping them in a convenient position on the
front, and given their popularity at the moment, the sales of this phone might
have taken a serious hit had the scanner not been so good. After all, what good
is a good camera if unlocking the phone is a hassle every single time?
Moving
on to the next important parameter, battery life,
we were pleasantly surprised by the P30 Pro’s performance. With heavy usage it
lasted just under 35 hours between charges. Think 35 hours of non-stop internet
usage, watching movies, gaming and using the camera. A full charge took less
than an hour, reaching 70% in just over 30 minutes via cable.
Overall the Huawei P30 pro packs a solid punch in
terms of looks, battery life and camera quality so we can safely predict that
this winner will be flying off the shelves soon after the launch!
