Working From Home And Internet Acting Up? Fix Dead Wi-Fi Zones

The biggest hurdle can sometimes be the internet when you’re working from home. There are also a few situations where the Wi-Fi router is unable to cover all the corners of your house. The connection wither crawls or is lost altogether. Here are a few things you can do to fix dead wifi zones in your home.

Tech 101- On/ Off
This is the basic solution for IT problems- turn if off and then switch it on again. This helps refresh your routers and your devices which helps to establish good connections and get going again

Speed test
You can always test your network’s strength and speed. This will help you to understand if you’re getting the proper speed and what you are paying for. If you’re getting proper speed, then this can also highlight if there are any dead zones in your home

Bandwidth
Most routers come with 2 kinds of basic settings- 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz. The stronger connection of the 2 is the 5 GHz but is limited and not so far-reaching, whereas the 2.5 GHz connection can travel further but isn’t concentrated. You can switch between the networks and use the stronger one when you’re near the router and the other one when you are away

To cover those dead wifi zones in your home, you can take the help of a good wifi extender. A wifi extender is basically a small box that you can plug in the wall and wirelessly extend the internet in a specific area of your house. Using the extender of the same brand as the router also helps get better results. If your home is big, then you should consider a mesh wifi system that is offered by companies like Netgear, D-Link, Cisco, etc.
