LED vs QLED vs OLED

Planning to buy a new TV this summer to enjoy your time indoors looking at the situation outside? This could be a good time to replace your old TV that is not-so-Smart with the one that is not only smart but also has way better picture quality. Today, there are 3 popular types of screens- LED, OLED, and QLED.

  1. LED
This is the most affordable type of commercially available screen that is most often chosen by people. LED televisions use TFT-LCD screens with LED backlighting technology which offer better colours and brightness in comparison to the CCFL backlit panels. This type of TV comes with two types of panels- IPS (In Plane Switching) and VA (Vertical Alignment) with each having certain advantages and drawbacks. The iPS screen offers better viewing angles VA has better picture contrast which brings out better colours in dark rooms. You can get an LED TV from 24 inches to 85 inches.

  2. QLED
This is the middle ground between the LED and OLED panels while the hardware technology used in these types of TVs is closer to the LED panels.QLED stands for Quantum-dot LED TV that has a quantum-dot filter that is placed between the LCD layer and LED backlight which produces better colours. This makes the QLED TVs offer better colours and brightness compared to most other TVs regardless of the panel used. However, they have lower contrast levels. The cost of manufacturing the QLED TV is higher and as a result, the technology is available in bigger TVs with the starting size being 43 inches

  3. OLED
This is the king of panels in the modern-day. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, where every pixel emits its own light when an electric current is run through it. Unlike all other panels, OLED panel pixels can be completely shut off which makes the TV produce the deepest blacks, realistic colours, and high levels of contrast. TVs are thinner since there is no need for a backlight. However, these TVs can’t get as big as the LED or QLED TVs. These are really expensive TVs
