After the launch of the first Google Buds,
there was so much left to be desired from the tech giant. With a lot of
manufacturers stepping into the wireless buds territory and announcing new
‘true wireless’ buds every month, Google decided to launch the successor of the
first version of their attempt at making earphones, the Google Pixel Buds 2.
Good Looks
The Pixel Buds come in a standard white hue
minus the gloss (present on the Samsung Pill case) or the weird shape of the
AirPods Pro Carrier (which looks more like a suitcase). The case uses the
minimalist industrial design to make the case look neat and give it a unique
look. So unique that it takes the shape of an egg (much thinner though) and
also feels like one.
It also boasts the ability to fast-charge
which will give you 2 hours of juice to listen to music in just 10 mins. A
regular USB-C cable (included in the box) allows you to charge it with LEDs on
the interior and exterior that inform you about the charging status. Currently
available in white, more colors will be soon available for purchase. Google
Pixel Buds 2 is a great combination of aesthetics and features.
Battery
The small egg-shaped case contains a battery
big enough to recharge the Google Pixel Buds 2 at least 4 times before the case
itself needs a top-up. One charge of the Google Buds 2 can gives 5 hours of
music playback and 2.5 hours of talk time.
Sound
The custom-designed 12mm dynamic drivers offer
crystal clarity and depth which makes listening to every instrument being
played in the song a possibility. The depth on the Buds allows you to
experience the musical details though the bass levels aren’t too good (to raise
your hair), they take care of your needs and are acceptable. The ability of
Google Buds to adapt to the sound of the environment through the adaptive sound
feature allows you to stay undisturbed by automatically increasing the volume
when in loud environments, but the loudness doesn’t increase too much. The
clarity on call is also high and the microphone adjusts the sound delivered to
the listener (based on a technology that detects the jaw movement)
Usability
Located on the Buds, touch controls make some
functions like raising or lowering the volume as simple as sliding left or
right. Some of the other interesting features that come along are Google
Translate and the deepest possible integration with the Google Assistant.
